Mitch Oliver Returns to SLAPPED with ‘Real Badman’
The Canadian label head unveils his latest original, alongside a remix from Berlin-based producer, DJ and live vocalist Bákayan.
Montréal-based imprint SLAPPED Records returns with its latest release from label founder Mitch Oliver, as he unveils ‘Real Badman’, a brand new original production accompanied by an official remix from Berlin-based producer, DJ and live vocalist Bákayan.
Available from October 2, Real Badman arrives on the same day that SLAPPED Records hosts its latest Amsterdam showcase at Het Sieraad, marking a significant day for the Montréal imprint as it continues to expand its presence internationally.
On the original, Mitch delivers another super slick, groove-focused club production, reflecting the dynamic approach that has become central to both his own work and the wider SLAPPED catalogue. As the label’s founder and head, Oliver has continued to build SLAPPED around individuality, atmosphere and dancefloor functionality, while developing a platform connecting artists and communities across Montréal, Europe and beyond.
For the remix, Mitch turns to label debutant Bákayan, who brings his distinctive blend of melodic, organic and electronic influences to the track. Originally from southern Germany and now based in Berlin, Bákayan developed his signature Hybrid Live Show around live vocals and electronic production, with releases across labels including Stil Vor Talent, Kindisch, Universal Music, Get Physical, AXEPT and Nervous Records. He is also the founder of ALA BØRA, a Berlin-based nomadic label and event series centred around connection, community and creative expression.
The release lands alongside a major moment for SLAPPED in Amsterdam, with Mitch Oliver, Cristina Lazic, Anthony Middleton and ARĒS coming together at Het Sieraad.
Cristina Lazic, head of La Zic Records and known for her deep tech and minimal productions, joins the lineup just weeks before making her SLAPPED debut with a remix of Mitch Oliver’s upcoming single U Wanna, arriving October 21. Anthony Middleton, one half of Audiofly, brings more than three decades of experience to the lineup, with a career built around immersive house music and a distinctive approach to groove, soundscape and atmosphere. ARĒS meanwhile rejoins the SLAPPED crew following Burning Man, bringing fresh inspiration from the Playa back to Amsterdam. Completing the lineup is Mitch Oliver, returning to Het Sieraad as SLAPPED’s label head and one of Canada’s leading voices in electronic music.
