Indian DJ and producer Nuevayu is pushing the envelope in electronic music with his latest single, “Run”, featuring J Fitz. As the first release on his newly launched label Tantalize, the track showcases a seamless fusion of country-inspired vocals with the rich textures of melodic house and techno. It’s a bold, genre-blending approach that has already caught the attention of music lovers worldwide.
“Run” brings together unexpected elements like country vocals and melodic house. What inspired this fusion, and what was your approach to making it work?
I’ve always been drawn to mixing things that aren’t typically put together. Country music has this raw, emotional storytelling, and pairing that with melodic house felt like a way to create something fresh and moving. The challenge was making them blend seamlessly, and I focused on keeping the emotions intact while letting the energy build naturally. It was all about finding that balance where the two worlds could meet.
Starting a label like Tantalize is no small feat. What motivated you to take this step, and what do you hope it contributes to the music industry?
Tantalize was born out of my need for a space where artists could take risks and create without boundaries. I want it to be a platform for sounds that surprise and captivate listeners. It’s less about following trends and more about making music that feels alive and has something to say. For me, it’s about contributing authenticity and innovation to the scene.
How does “Run” fit into the bigger narrative of your discography? Does it signal a new direction for your sound?
“Run” is definitely a progression for me. My earlier releases, like the Rebirth EP, were more introspective, while “Run” opens up new possibilities by fusing genres in a way I hadn’t explored before. It’s not about shifting completely in one direction but more about expanding my sound and staying curious.
Working with J Fitz must have been an exciting experience. How did you connect, and what was the creative dynamic like?
J Fitz and I connected through a mutual appreciation for music that tells a story. His vocals brought this unique depth to “Run,” and the process felt very natural. We bounced ideas back and forth, letting the track evolve without forcing it. It was less about sticking to a formula and more about creating something that felt honest and exciting.
What aspects of your Indian heritage or upbringing have influenced your work as an electronic music producer?
Growing up in India, I was exposed to so many contrasting sounds—traditional rhythms, Bollywood melodies, regional styles, and the underground electronic scene in cities like Pune. That mix taught me to appreciate diversity in music and gave me a strong foundation for experimenting. It’s also made me value storytelling in my tracks, something that’s very rooted in Indian culture.
